You’ll learn concrete techniques to grow your platform and create content. You’ll also discover how to keep a vibrant authorial presence in front of your readers.
The intensive workshop includes two teaching modules, full-to-the-brim with material to help you perfect your marketing, along with practical exercises to reinforce what you have learned. In addition, there’s also a Q&A session where you can get your questions answered and receive some laser-coaching to help you put the techniques into action.

In this intensive workshop, we take you from developing your marketing strategy to creating content with techniques you can implement right away. We focus especially on key elements and danger spots where many writers get stuck. You will get tools and the techniques through teaching sessions, hands-on platform exercises, and group discussions, so you can strengthen your online author presence and stay relevant to your readers. Build a Platform Strategy
We’ll break down the basics and dive into the mechanics of your author platform. You will learn how genre can influence your marketing decisions and discover how to use your reader’s expectations to tailor your approach.
Know What You Already Have
Contrary to popular belief, writers already have a number of skills that will give them a leg up on their marketing. Discover what these skills are and learn how to maximize them for the best effect.
Understand Your Reader
The first step in learning how to market your work is understanding who your readers are and why they are drawn to your book in the first place. In this session, you will learn two practical, hands-on techniques to help you research and get to know your readers on a deep level.
Craft an Author Bio
Who are you as a writer, and how do you present yourself to the world? Explore what makes a stunning author bio and understand the main components you need to include. When you complete this intensive workshop, you will have an author bio you can use on your website, on your books’ flap copy, or when people introduce you at speaking engagements.
Create Compelling Content
Content creation is a scary topic that can send writers into a tailspin. It does not have to be that way! This workshop will show you how to create compelling content that builds relationships with your readers and takes them on a journey from curious to committed. In this session, you will work with other like-minded writers to brainstorm and create engaging content.

Who is this for?
The Marketing and Content Creation Intensive Workshop is designed to help writers of all genres and skill levels develop a marketing plan with content that shines. We created this one-day intensive workshop for writers who don’t have the time to spend weeks on their author platform and want to learn it quickly. Throughout the day, you’ll work with like-minded writers to deepen your understanding of platform and content creation with concrete techniques that you can implement right away.
What is included?
This day-long marketing-focused workshop includes two teaching sessions, full-to-the-brim with material to help you perfect your platform. These lessons are accompanied by exercises that reinforce the material.
You will participate in small group discussions with other word nerds to further deepen your understanding of the craft. Finally, there is a Q&A session, so you can get answers to all your platform and content related questions.
When does it happen?
The intensive workshop takes place on Saturday, November 4th, 2023, starting at 10:00 am ET. The program will last approximately 8 hours, and is scheduled to end around 6:30 pm. It includes breaks for meals and writing time.
What materials are required?
Everything you need will be emailed to you ahead of time, so all you need to bring is your favorite writing implement. There is a worksheet packet that you will want to have downloaded and handy on your computer. Most word nerds like to print out the packet; some even keep it in a dedicated binder. If you choose not to print it out, you want to have a notebook or word processor handy so you can do the exercises.
What if I can’t make it live?
Don’t worry! While we strongly encourage you to show up live, the intensive workshop will be recorded. You may watch the sessions at your leisure as many times as you like. The video replays expire on Sunday, December 10th.
